Tamil Nadu Leads India in Factory Count, But Lags in Value Creation

Tamil Nadu leads India in the number of factories and factory jobs, but lags behind Maharashtra and Gujarat in generating value from its industrial base. The state accounts for 15.44% of India's factories and 14.99% of its workforce, yet contributes only 10.87% to manufacturing value added. While Tamil Nadu's factories generated ₹17.96 lakh crore in output, its Gross Value Added (GVA) was ₹2.94 lakh crore, significantly lower than Maharashtra's ₹4.29 lakh crore and Gujarat's ₹3.80 lakh crore.
