The court directed the Magistrate to re-examine a complaint alleging Sonia Gandhi's name was on the electoral roll in 1980, before she became an Indian citizen. बीजेपी ने कांग्रेस से मंगलवार, 2 सितंबर 2026 को सवाल पूछे। दिल्ली कोर्ट ने एक मैजिस्ट्रेट के आदेश को रद्द कर दिया था। कोर्ट ने मैजिस्ट्रेट से उस शिकायत पर फिर से विचार करने को कहा है जिसमें आरोप है कि सोनिया गांधी का नाम 1980 में वोटर लिस्ट में था, जब वह भारतीय नागरिक नहीं बनी थीं। बीजेपी प्रवक्ता प्रदीप भंडारी ने कहा कि यह संविधान और जनप्रतिनिधित्व अधिनियम का उल्लंघन है।
