A 40-year-old man has been sentenced to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment by a fast-track court in Keonjhar, Odisha, for the rape of a 20-year-old woman. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000, with an additional year of imprisonment for default. The incident occurred on April 14 last year when the victim was grazing cattle in a forest. The survivor reported the incident after fearing pregnancy, leading to the accused's arrest and conviction. The court also ordered compensation of Rs 8 lakh for the survivor.

ओडिशा के केओंझर में एक फास्ट-ट्रैक कोर्ट ने 20 साल की महिला से रेप के आरोप में 40 साल के एक शख्स को 10 साल की कठोर कैद की सज़ा सुनाई है। कोर्ट ने उस पर 10,000 रुपये का जुर्माना भी लगाया है, और डिफ़ॉल्ट होने पर एक साल की अतिरिक्त कैद का प्रावधान है। यह घटना पिछले साल 14 अप्रैल को हुई थी जब पीड़िता जंगल में मवेशी चरा रही थी। गर्भवती होने के डर से पीड़िता ने घटना की सूचना दी, जिसके बाद आरोपी को गिरफ्तार कर दोषी ठहराया गया। कोर्ट ने पीड़िता को 8 लाख रुपये का मुआवज़ा देने का भी आदेश दिया है।
