गोरखपुर यूनिवर्सिटी का कृषि विभाग जल्द ही चेरी टमाटर, शिमला मिर्च, ब्रोकली और ज़ुकिनी जैसी विदेशी सब्जियों के बीज उगाने के लिए पॉलीहाउस स्थापित करेगा। ये बीज फिर पूर्वांचल क्षेत्र के किसानों को दिए जाएंगे। यूनिवर्सिटी इन मांग वाली फसलों के लिए आधुनिक खेती की तकनीक और बाज़ार तक पहुँच की जानकारी भी देगी। इस पहल का मकसद किसानों को पारंपरिक सब्जियों से आगे बढ़कर अपनी उपज में विविधता लाकर आय के नए अवसर पैदा करना है। मुनाफ़ा सुनिश्चित करने के लिए खेती और बाज़ार तक डिलीवरी के सही समय पर ज़ोर दिया जाएगा।
