Metrowater officials identified a leak in an old 150mm main pipeline as the cause, with approximately 7 meters of the pipe damaged. चेन्नई के वेलैचेरी मेन रोड पर फीनिक्स मार्केटसिटी के पास वीकेंड पर दिवाली से पहले एक बड़ा रोड धंस गया। इससे भारी ट्रैफिक जाम हो गया। मेट्र वॉटर के अधिकारियों ने बताया कि 150mm की पुरानी पाइपलाइन में लीकेज की वजह से ऐसा हुआ। पाइप का करीब 7 मीटर हिस्सा खराब हो गया था। इस वजह से गुइंडी और वेलैचेरी के बीच आने-जाने वालों को बहुत परेशानी हुई। यह घटना पाइपलाइन फटने से रोड धंसने की लगातार बढ़ती चिंताओं को उजागर करती है, ऐसी ही घटनाएं हाल ही में शहर में देखी गई हैं।
