6.5 Hectares of Forest Land Diverted For Kalyan-Asangaon 4th Railway Line

Times of India · business

Central Railway has applied for approval to divert approximately 6.5 hectares of forest land in Thane and Shahapur for the Kalyan-Asangaon fourth railway line project. This 32.23-km project aims to boost the carrying capacity of the Central Railway's mainline corridor. The estimated cost for the project is Rs 1,619.96 crore, to be shared equally by the railways and the Maharashtra government. The diversion is necessary as the proposed alignment largely follows the existing railway corridor, minimizing the need for additional land acquisition.
