Credit Card Spends Growth Slows to 5.5%

Credit card spending growth in India slowed to 5.5% year-on-year in August, down from 7.1% in July, according to RBI data. The total number of credit cards in circulation increased by 9.5%. SBI Cards experienced a significant slowdown, with its spending growth dropping to 7% from 22% in July, reducing its market share. HDFC Bank saw an increase in spending share during the month, while ICICI Bank and Axis Bank experienced declines.
