Lionel Messi has received his record 17th nomination for the Ballon d'Or, but his absence from the 2026 ceremony in London has sparked questions. He reportedly skipped the event due to commitments with Inter Miami and a demanding travel schedule. Speculation that he might present the trophy proved unfounded, as no official confirmation of such a role was provided. The ceremony awaits results for nominees including Kylian Mbappé, Harry Kane, and Lamine Yamal.
