Supreme Court: EC Cannot Decide Citizenship, Only Delete

The Supreme Court has ruled that the Election Commission (EC) can delete doubtful voters from electoral rolls but cannot decide on their citizenship. The court sought a response from the West Bengal government regarding allegations of ration denial to voters deleted from the electoral list.

सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने कहा है कि चुनाव आयोग (EC) संदिग्ध मतदाताओं के नाम वोटर लिस्ट से हटा सकता है, लेकिन उनकी नागरिकता पर फैसला नहीं कर सकता। कोर्ट ने पश्चिम बंगाल सरकार से उन मतदाताओं को राशन न देने के आरोपों पर जवाब मांगा है जिनके नाम वोटर लिस्ट से हटा दिए गए थे।
