UPI MDR Change: Merchants Face New Charges

UPI payments will see a new Merchant Discount Rate (MDR) from October 15 for person-to-merchant transactions exceeding Rs 2,000. This charge, set at 0.4% with a Rs 300 cap, will be borne by merchants, not consumers. UPI transactions below Rs 2,000 will remain free for merchants. This change aims to align UPI's cost structure with card payments, where indicative merchant charges are higher, up to 0.9% for debit cards and 2% for credit cards.

यूपीआई एमडीआर बदलाव: व्यापारियों पर नए शुल्क

अक्टूबर से 2,000 रुपये से ज़्यादा के UPI पेमेंट पर मर्चेंट डिस्काउंट रेट (MDR) लागू होगा। यह 0.4% का चार्ज मर्चेंट को देना होगा, जिसकी ऊपरी सीमा 300 रुपये है। अच्छी बात ये है कि ग्राहकों को कोई अतिरिक्त पैसा नहीं देना पड़ेगा। 2,000 रुपये से कम के ट्रांज़ैक्शन पर कोई चार्ज नहीं लगेगा। इससे UPI का खर्च कार्ड पेमेंट जैसा हो जाएगा।
