Al Jazeera · world

Garment workers in Bangladesh, a major global apparel exporter, are protesting for higher wages, stating their current earnings barely cover living costs. Many, like Laili Begum, struggle to afford adequate food and education for their children, with monthly incomes around 15,000 taka ($121). Workers are demanding a minimum wage of 30,000 taka, more than double the current 12,500 taka. Protests have led to clashes with police and factory disruptions, prompting the government to form a wage board.
