The Punjab and Haryana High Court has dismissed the Centre's appeal against an order to release freedom fighter pension benefits to the widowed daughter of an Indian National Army (INA) soldier. The court upheld a previous verdict, stating that claims admissible under the scheme should not be denied on technical grounds. The scheme aims to honour freedom fighters and support their dependents. The Centre had argued the daughter was ineligible as her father hadn't applied for the pension himself.

पंजाब और हरियाणा हाईकोर्ट ने भारतीय राष्ट्रीय सेना (आईएनए) के एक सैनिक की विधवा बेटी को स्वतंत्रता सेनानी पेंशन लाभ जारी करने के आदेश के खिलाफ केंद्र की अपील खारिज कर दी है। अदालत ने पिछले फैसले को बरकरार रखा, जिसमें कहा गया था कि योजना के तहत स्वीकार्य दावों को तकनीकी आधार पर अस्वीकार नहीं किया जाना चाहिए। योजना का उद्देश्य स्वतंत्रता सेनानियों को सम्मानित करना और उनके आश्रितों का समर्थन करना है। केंद्र ने तर्क दिया था कि बेटी अयोग्य थी क्योंकि उसके पिता ने स्वयं पेंशन के लिए आवेदन नहीं किया था।
