India's Asian Games Gold Medal Haul Declines Sharply From Previous Edition

Times of India · sports

India's performance at the ongoing Asian Games presents a stark reality check, with 20 gold medals lost compared to the previous edition in Hangzhou. Of the 28 golds won in 2023, many have not been defended across sports like shooting, athletics, and archery. Notably, nine individual gold medals from Hangzhou have not been retained, with only one individual gold won so far in Aichi-Nagoya. While team events like kabaddi and cricket offer potential for more golds, the overall decline in gold medal numbers is significant.
