Centre Hikes Rabi MSPs For 2027-28, Boosting Oilseeds and Pulses Significantly

The Centre has increased the Minimum Support Prices (MSPs) for all six Rabi crops for the 2027-28 marketing season, with the largest hikes allocated to oilseeds and pulses. Safflower saw the biggest absolute increase of ₹675 per quintal, followed by rapeseed and mustard with a ₹413 per quintal rise. Wheat received a modest ₹25 increase, bringing its MSP to ₹2,610. These higher MSPs aim to ensure fair returns for farmers and encourage diversification towards less water-intensive crops like pulses and oilseeds, especially amid climate uncertainties.
