India's Air Force Faces Critical Shortage, Tejas Production Delays Hamper Readiness
Hindustan Times · india
The Indian Air Force is operating with a significantly reduced fighter squadron strength against authorised numbers, facing a challenging two-front contingency. Delays in the Tejas Mk-1A program, stemming from issues with engine supply, radar integration, and production capacity, are strategically critical. To rebuild squadron strength, the IAF needs to accelerate Tejas production to at least 20 aircraft annually and ensure timely progress on the MRFA program. Maintaining the combat readiness of the existing fleet through reliable spares and serviceability is also paramount.
