Saudi Arabia's air defences successfully intercepted a barrage of projectiles launched by Yemen's Houthi rebels, including ballistic missiles aimed towards the holy cities of Mecca and Medina. Shrapnel from two intercepted missiles fell in several areas within the Mecca province. The Saudi-led coalition also intercepted a drone and ballistic missile over Riyadh, and a cruise missile targeting Khamis Mushait, with warning sirens activated in Taif and Jazan. The GCC condemned the strikes as a grave violation of the sanctity of holy sites, while the Houthis denied targeting them.
