BJP Promises UCC in UP if Voted Back in 2027; HC Notices Saurav Das

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has pledged that the Bharatiya Janata Party will implement a Uniform Civil Code in Uttar Pradesh if they win the 2027 Assembly elections. This announcement follows Shah's earlier statement about the BJP's intention to introduce UCC in 21 states before 2029. The proposed UCC aims to establish a unified set of laws for marriage, divorce, succession, and adoption across all communities. Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has criticised the proposal, deeming it not worth implementing.
