No UPI Day: Traders Divided Over MDR Protest

News18 Hindi · india

A section of traders, led by the CTI, plans to observe 'No UPI Day' to protest Merchant Discount Rate (MDR) charges on UPI transactions above ₹2,000. CTI argues these charges could impact traders and reduce UPI usage by up to 50%, potentially increasing cash usage. However, the CAIT has opted out of the protest, creating a division among merchant bodies. The impact on consumers is expected regardless of the protest's success.
