Kerala Assembly Approves Hike in Salaries and Allowances for Ministers and MLAs

The Kerala Assembly has passed Bills to increase the monthly salaries and allowances for Ministers and MLAs. Ministers' total monthly remuneration will rise from approximately ₹1.08 lakh to ₹1.3 lakh, while MLAs' allowances will increase from ₹70,000 to ₹98,000. These revisions, last updated in 2018, will take effect from November 1. The Bills also include amendments to pension amounts for former legislators. The enhanced allowances are expected to incur an additional recurring expenditure of around ₹6.91 crore annually.
