MRPL Workers' Union Issues Week-Long Ultimatum Over Safety Lapses

The MRPL Mazdoor Sangha has issued a one-week ultimatum to Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd (MRPL), demanding action on alleged safety lapses and discrimination against contract workers. Union leaders highlighted ongoing safety risks and unequal treatment, citing recent incidents and the denial of basic facilities like proper restrooms. The union has submitted a 29-point memorandum seeking improved compensation, healthcare, job security, and environmental safeguards. Failure to meet these demands could lead to a district-wide "MRPL Chalo" agitation.

MRPL मज़दूर संघ ने मैंगलोर रिफाइनरी एंड पेट्रोकेमिकल्स लिमिटेड (MRPL) को कथित सुरक्षा खामियों और ठेका मज़दूरों के साथ भेदभाव पर कार्रवाई की मांग करते हुए एक हफ़्ते की मोहलत दी है। यूनियन नेताओं ने हाल की घटनाओं और उचित शौचालय जैसी बुनियादी सुविधाओं से इनकार करने का हवाला देते हुए, चल रहे सुरक्षा जोखिमों और असमान व्यवहार पर प्रकाश डाला। यूनियन ने बेहतर मुआवज़ा, स्वास्थ्य सेवा, नौकरी की सुरक्षा और पर्यावरण सुरक्षा की मांग करते हुए 29 सूत्रीय ज्ञापन सौंपा है। इन मांगों को पूरा करने में विफलता के कारण ज़िला-व्यापी "MRPL चलो" आंदोलन हो सकता है।
