Wholesale Inflation Hits 30-Month High of 11.4% in September
Times of India · business
India's wholesale inflation surged to an 11.4% rate in September, marking a 30-month high, up from 9.9% in August. This increase was driven by rising prices in fuel, power, and manufactured goods, with inflation in these sectors reaching 25.9% and 9.8% respectively. Food prices also contributed, with the WPI Food Index rising to 8.7%. While the RBI focuses on retail inflation for policy, wholesale price increases can eventually impact consumer prices, potentially affecting transportation and production costs.
