Gold Prices Dip Amid Rate Hike Bets

Gold prices edged higher on Friday but were set for a weekly loss, impacted by persistent inflation concerns and hawkish signals from Federal Reserve policymakers. Higher US Treasury yields have also dented bullion's appeal, pushing it towards its fourth weekly decline in five weeks. The zero-yielding precious metal faces headwinds from inflation risks and rising yields, which increase the opportunity cost of holding non-yielding assets. The Federal Reserve recently raised interest rates by a quarter-point and indicated further hikes are planned.
