Over 30 Kuki-Zo Homes Torched in Manipur's Kamjong; Villagers Flee

More than 30 Kuki-Zo homes were reportedly torched in Chassad village, Kamjong district, Manipur, since Saturday, forcing residents to flee. The violence escalated after Seikhohao Haokip was killed and four others injured in an attack near the Chassad police station. The Kuki CSO Working Committee blamed armed elements associated with Naga militant groups for the attacks, alleging bomb assaults and sustained firing. The Kuki-Zo Council questioned the free operation of NSCN-IM cadres and demanded an independent probe into the killings and alleged economic embargoes.

शनिवार से मणिपुर के कामजोंग जिले के चस्साद गांव में 30 से ज़्यादा कुकी-जो घरों में आग लगा दी गई, जिससे वहां के निवासी भागने पर मजबूर हो गए। चस्साद पुलिस स्टेशन के पास हुए हमले में सीखोहाओ हाओकिप की मौत और चार अन्य के घायल होने के बाद हिंसा बढ़ गई। कुकी CSO वर्किंग कमेटी ने हमलों के लिए नागा उग्रवादी समूहों से जुड़े सशस्त्र तत्वों को जिम्मेदार ठहराया, जिसमें बमबारी और लगातार गोलीबारी का आरोप लगाया गया। कुकी-जो काउंसिल ने NSCN-IM कैडरों के खुले ऑपरेशन पर सवाल उठाया और हत्याओं व कथित आर्थिक नाकेबंदी की स्वतंत्र जांच की मांग की।
