Supreme Court Sets Deadline For Dara Singh Remission

The Supreme Court has given Odisha until August 19 to decide on Dara Singh's remission plea. Singh, convicted for the murder of Australian missionary Graham Staines and his two sons in 1999, has been jailed since 2000. He has served over 26 years and his plea is being favorably considered by the state sentence review board due to good conduct.

सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने ओडिशा सरकार को दारा सिंह की दया याचिका पर 19 अगस्त तक फैसला लेने का समय दिया है। दारा सिंह पर 1999 में ऑस्ट्रेलियाई मिशनरी ग्राहम स्टेंस और उनके दो बेटों की हत्या का आरोप था। वह 2000 से जेल में है और 26 साल से ज़्यादा की सज़ा काट चुका है। अच्छे चाल-चलन के कारण राज्य की सज़ा समीक्षा बोर्ड उसकी याचिका पर सकारात्मक रूप से विचार कर रही है।
