MSMEs must meet EU rules for FTA benefits

A senior government official stated that lower tariffs alone are insufficient; compliance with environmental, ESG, and certification standards is crucial. भारत के छोटे और मध्यम उद्योगों (MSMEs) को आने वाले इंडिया-ईयू फ्री ट्रेड एग्रीमेंट (FTA) का पूरा फायदा उठाने के लिए यूरोपीय संघ के गैर-टैरिफ नियमों के लिए तैयार रहना होगा। एक वरिष्ठ सरकारी अधिकारी ने कहा कि सिर्फ कम टैरिफ काफी नहीं हैं, बल्कि पर्यावरण, ESG और सर्टिफिकेशन मानकों का पालन करना भी बहुत ज़रूरी है। यह FTA 2027 की शुरुआत में लागू हो सकता है। उद्योग संघों को छोटे व्यवसायों को इन जटिल यूरोपीय संघ की ज़रूरतों को समझने और पूरा करने में मदद करनी चाहिए ताकि वे बाज़ार में सफल हो सकें।
