Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton warned that Iran has substantially increased efforts to target U.S. personnel abroad. Plots to kill Americans have reached advanced stages in the Middle East and other countries, according to an unclassified memo. This warning comes as the State Department adjusts staffing at diplomatic posts across the Middle East. The U.S. military is also quietly reducing its footprint in the region due to ongoing threats from Iran and the Houthi movement.
