SC asks Karnataka to respond on Cauvery water

The Supreme Court has directed Karnataka to respond to Tamil Nadu's plea alleging a shortfall in Cauvery water supply. Tamil Nadu stated it has already lost an early Kharif crop due to insufficient water. Karnataka argued it is facing a severe drought and is complying with the Cauvery Water Management Authority's directions. The court asked Karnataka to file its response within a week, posting the matter for further hearing on October 12.

सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने कर्नाटक को तमिलनाडु की कावेरी जल आपूर्ति में कमी की याचिका पर जवाब देने का निर्देश दिया है। तमिलनाडु ने कहा कि पानी की कमी से खरीफ की फसल पहले ही बर्बाद हो चुकी है। कर्नाटक ने कहा कि वे भयंकर सूखे का सामना कर रहे हैं और कावेरी जल प्रबंधन प्राधिकरण के निर्देशों का पालन कर रहे हैं। कोर्ट ने कर्नाटक से एक हफ्ते में जवाब मांगा है और अगली सुनवाई 12 अक्टूबर को तय की है।
