Karnataka HC Replaces 'Visitation' With 'Parenting Time' For Non-Custodial Parents
Times of India · top
The Karnataka High Court has directed family courts to use the term 'parenting time' instead of 'visitation' when referring to arrangements for non-custodial parents. Justice Lalitha Kanneganti observed that no parent should be considered a visitor in a child's life, emphasizing that the term 'visitation' can imply an outsider's presence. This change aims to foster a more humane understanding of a parent's ongoing role in a child's upbringing post-separation. Administrative instructions will be issued to implement this directive across all relevant courts.
