Ukraine Faces Critical Missile Shortage Despite 500 Patriot Missiles on Order
Times of India · world
Ukraine faces a critical air defence supply gap as global stockpiles of interceptors are depleted faster than production can meet demand. Russia's ongoing missile and drone attacks on Ukrainian cities and infrastructure, coupled with conflicts in West Asia, have significantly drawn down weapon stocks. While the US approved a $2.1 billion sale of 500 PAC-3 MSE interceptors, these are not expected to arrive for several years, potentially not until the 2030s. This delay leaves Ukraine vulnerable during the upcoming winter, highlighting the challenge of relying on imported defence supplies.
