Haryana Power Employees Threaten Strike Over Privatisation Move

Electricity department employees in Haryana staged a protest against the state government's decision to privatise power distribution in Gurgaon and Nuh. Protesters burned copies of the draft related to the privatisation process and announced an indefinite strike starting from midnight. Employees demanded the withdrawal of licences granted to private companies in these two districts. They alleged that the move would negatively impact employee interests, leaving them with no alternative but to strike. The protest included a two-hour demonstration before the strike commenced.

हरियाणा में बिजली विभाग के कर्मचारियों ने गुरुग्राम और नूंह में बिजली वितरण को निजीकरण करने के राज्य सरकार के फैसले के खिलाफ विरोध प्रदर्शन किया। प्रदर्शनकारियों ने निजीकरण प्रक्रिया से संबंधित मसौदे की प्रतियां जलाईं और आधी रात से अनिश्चितकालीन हड़ताल की घोषणा की। कर्मचारियों ने इन दो जिलों में निजी कंपनियों को दिए गए लाइसेंस वापस लेने की मांग की। उन्होंने आरोप लगाया कि इस कदम से कर्मचारियों के हितों पर नकारात्मक प्रभाव पड़ेगा, जिससे उनके पास हड़ताल के अलावा कोई विकल्प नहीं बचेगा। हड़ताल शुरू होने से पहले दो घंटे का प्रदर्शन भी किया गया।
