Times of India · india
The CBI has invoked stringent charges, including forgery of valuable security, in its investigation into an alleged impersonation racket involving 135 candidates selected through IBPS recruitment examinations. The forgery charge carries a maximum punishment of life imprisonment. The agency also invoked provisions of the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024, related to unfair means and organised crime. This move follows the discovery that impersonators allegedly appeared for candidates at various stages of the recruitment process, with invigilators reportedly involved.
