A universal provident fund scheme is being proposed for unorganised sector workers and the self-employed. This framework would allow them to deposit a portion of their income into the fund. These deposits will earn regular interest, matching the rates offered by the existing Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) scheme.
