Global Rate Risks, Capital Outflows To Weigh On Indian Markets: Experts

Business Standard · stocks

Experts predict that high global interest rates, elevated oil prices, and capital outflows will continue to impact Indian financial markets. Factors like sustained high oil prices, foreign portfolio investor (FPI) outflows, and shifts in hedging behaviour are contributing to the rupee's weakness. Significant FPI outflows, amounting to nearly $60 billion over two years, are partly driven by global investments in artificial intelligence. Emerging markets face challenges from increasing capital demand for AI funding and rising US yields due to fiscal conditions, potentially leading to continued outflows unless oil prices decrease.
