Gujarat Eases Green Rules For Farmers Near Gir

The Gujarat government is considering relaxing proposed Eco-Sensitive Zone rules around Gir sanctuary to allow farmers mechanised farming, fencing, and well construction with safeguards. These relaxations come after farmers expressed concerns about restrictions on their routine agricultural activities. However, officials confirmed there will be no reduction in the Eco-Sensitive Zone for the Gir sanctuary itself. The proposed changes, which permit tractors and farm machinery but ban barbed wire fencing, will be sent to the Centre for approval.
