Filmmakers Criticise New CBFC Guidelines For Hindering Creative Process
Hindustan Times · entertainment
The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has issued new guidelines stating that incomplete works, announced release dates, and titles will not be considered for certification. Filmmakers have expressed strong opposition, calling the rules dictatorial and a blow to freedom of speech. Directors like Amit Rai and Onir highlighted the financial and logistical challenges, noting that redoing work after completion is expensive and changing titles midway disrupts audience connection. Trade analysts suggest many rules existed but were not strictly enforced, potentially complicating production planning.
