Singapore Airlines Fined ₹50,000 For Denying Food On 15-Hour Flight

Business Standard · business

The Punjab State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission has ordered Singapore Airlines to pay ₹50,000 in compensation. This decision follows a complaint that a passenger's wife, mother-in-law, and 11-month-old daughter were not provided adequate food during a 15-hour flight from Delhi to Melbourne in March 2020. The airline argued no special meals were requested, but the commission found it liable for deficiency in service. It noted the airline failed to prove passengers received sufficient ordinary meals, especially for the infant, causing mental agony and harassment.
