Puducherry Introduces QR-Code System For Garbage Collection
The Hindu · india
Puducherry is launching a QR-code-based system in its municipalities to ensure 100% door-to-door waste collection and track sanitation workers' visits. This initiative aims to identify service gaps and improve efficiency in managing the daily 450 tonnes of waste generated. Residents can report non-collection by calling a number on the QR code sticker affixed to houses. However, sanitation workers have opposed the move, citing concerns that it will increase their already heavy workload and add to existing staff shortages.
