The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has secured a significant victory in the Nandigram Assembly bypoll in West Bengal. Hasi Rani Rath, the BJP candidate, defeated her closest rival, Milan Pradhan of the Congress, by a substantial margin of 1,22,753 votes. Rath's candidature gained attention as she is the mother of a BJP aide who was killed in May. The by-election was held after Suvendu Adhikari vacated the seat to retain Bhabanipur. This contest was closely watched as an early electoral test for the current BJP government in the state.
