Pune Municipal Corporation Accused of Overpaying for Diesel

Times of India · politics

Opposition members in the PMC have demanded an inquiry into fuel expenses, alleging the administration pays Rs 159 per litre for diesel when the market rate is Rs 99. They claim this overpayment of taxpayer money could lead to annual savings of Rs 15 crore if revised. PMC officials stated that bulk purchases are made at government-set rates applicable to other public bodies. The opposition argues that commercial rates should not apply to public transport like PMPML buses, advocating for procurement at market prices.
