Tamil Nadu is set to make dementia a public health priority, aiming to address the condition affecting over five lakh residents, with an estimated 90% undiagnosed. The state plans a coordinated approach, integrating screening, assessment, and treatment into primary healthcare. This initiative follows a recent conference where the health minister announced a partnership with the Dementia India Alliance. With the elderly population growing, dementia cases are projected to double in the next decade, making early detection and care crucial.
