Times of India · health
A Kolkata consumer commission has ordered Apollo Gleneagles Hospitals and a surgeon to jointly pay Rs 3.2 lakh to a patient who developed an infection after surgery. The commission found that the doctor and hospital failed to check the patient's blood sugar before the procedure and properly record his regular medications. The patient had informed the doctor about taking blood thinners and high blood pressure medication. Despite the doctor's dispute, the commission noted the lack of blood sugar test reports and the patient's existing conditions.
