Vizag Man Loses Rs 12 Lakh in Credit Card Limit Upgrade Scam

A 60-year-old man in Visakhapatnam has lost Rs 12 lakh to fraudsters who posed as bank representatives offering a credit card limit upgrade. The victim was tricked into sharing sensitive card details and installing a malicious APK file. After installing the app and entering his details, he received alerts for transactions totalling Rs 12 lakh. He has lodged a complaint with the cybercrime police, who are investigating. Police advise the public to never share card details or OTPs and to verify offers only through official bank channels.

विशाखापत्तनम में एक 60 वर्षीय व्यक्ति क्रेडिट कार्ड लिमिट बढ़ाने की पेशकश करने वाले बैंक प्रतिनिधियों के भेष में आए ठगों के जाल में फंसकर 12 लाख रुपये गंवा बैठा। पीड़ित को संवेदनशील कार्ड विवरण साझा करने और एक दुर्भावनापूर्ण APK फ़ाइल इंस्टॉल करने के लिए बरगलाया गया। ऐप इंस्टॉल करने और अपना विवरण दर्ज करने के बाद, उसे कुल 12 लाख रुपये के लेनदेन के अलर्ट मिले। उसने साइबर क्राइम पुलिस में शिकायत दर्ज कराई है, जो मामले की जांच कर रही है। पुलिस जनता को सलाह देती है कि वे कभी भी कार्ड विवरण या ओटीपी साझा न करें और केवल आधिकारिक बैंक चैनलों के माध्यम से ही प्रस्तावों को सत्यापित करें।
