The Andhra Pradesh government has issued comprehensive interim guidelines to enhance inter-departmental coordination and prevent illegal mining of sand and other minerals. These guidelines assign clear responsibilities to various departments, mandate time-bound complaint verification, and introduce stringent enforcement measures. The Chief Secretary issued the order following directions from the AP High Court concerning illegal sand mining in Bapatla district. The Mines & Geology Department has registered thousands of violation cases and imposed significant penalties, blacklisting vehicles and registering FIRs.
