The Vattavada grama panchayat near Munnar has introduced an entry fee for tourist vehicles, effective October 31, to manage waste and fund local tourism development. Green checkposts have been established to collect ₹100 from tourist buses, ₹50 from cars, and ₹30 from two-wheelers. This fee is crucial as the panchayat faces a funding shortfall for waste management, with sanitation workers unpaid for three months. The revenue will also support infrastructure upgrades and ensure job security for local sanitation workers, many from the Chakliya community.

मुनार के पास वट्टावडा ग्राम पंचायत ने 31 अक्टूबर से पर्यटक वाहनों के लिए एंट्री फीस लागू कर दी है। यह कचरा प्रबंधन और स्थानीय पर्यटन विकास के लिए फंड जुटाने के लिए किया गया है। ग्रीन चेकपोस्ट स्थापित किए गए हैं जहाँ से पर्यटक बसों से ₹100, कारों से ₹50 और दोपहिया वाहनों से ₹30 वसूले जाएंगे। यह फीस इसलिए ज़रूरी है क्योंकि पंचायत को कचरा प्रबंधन के लिए फंड की कमी का सामना करना पड़ रहा है, और सफाई कर्मचारी तीन महीने से वेतन के बिना हैं। इस पैसे से इंफ्रास्ट्रक्चर में सुधार किया जाएगा और स्थानीय सफाई कर्मचारियों, जिनमें से कई चाकलीया समुदाय से हैं, की नौकरी की सुरक्षा भी सुनिश्चित की जाएगी।
