The Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) is investing ₹4.85 crore to upgrade its testing and metering labs in five locations across the state. These upgrades are necessary to handle the testing of smart meters being introduced to consumers in a phased manner. The KSEB plans to install 3 lakh smart meters under Phase-1 of its Smart Metering Project. The NABL-accredited labs currently lack adequate facilities for this advanced testing. This initiative is part of KSEB's broader smart metering project aimed at modernizing its infrastructure.
