Couple Wins Legal Battle Over Eight-Foot Lawn Patch After Neighbours Plant Gnome

A gardening couple in Surrey, England, has won an appeal over an eight-by-three-foot strip of land they tended for over twenty years. Elizabeth Dobson and Andrew Pleming had meticulously cared for the patch, mowing, planting flowers, and even using it for their children. Their new neighbours, the Unsteds, removed the couple's plants and placed a garden gnome there, claiming ownership based on property deeds. However, an Upper Tribunal Judge recognized the couple's long-term care, ruling that years of diligent gardening can outweigh official property registration.
