Gujarat High Court Rejects Asaram's Plea for Temporary Bail to See Hospitalised Wife

The Gujarat High Court has denied a 20-day temporary bail request from self-styled godman Asaram, who is imprisoned in Jodhpur jail. He sought release to visit his wife, Laxmidevi Harpalani, currently hospitalised in Ahmedabad for breathing difficulties and heart failure. Medical reports indicated she was responding well to treatment and expected to be discharged soon. The court noted relatives and disciples were attending to her and that video conferencing was an option, thus rejecting the bail plea on humanitarian grounds.
