The Philadelphia Orchestra has received a $10.5 million pledge from former US ambassador David L Cohen and his wife, Rhonda R Cohen. This significant commitment is set to bolster the orchestra's international tours, cultural exchanges, and the commissioning of new musical works. The donation comes as the ensemble prepares for its 14th tour of China, continuing a cultural relationship that began in 1973 when it became the first American orchestra to perform in the country. The funds will also support emerging composers and enhance the organization's leadership.
