HC Seeks Govt Report on Jagannath Temple Land

The Orissa High Court has requested the state government to provide a status report on resolving disputes concerning the Record of Rights entries for Ekharajat Mahal lands belonging to Lord Jagannath. This directive came while the court was hearing a public interest litigation filed by a local committee regarding RoR entry disputes in 36 villages in Khurda district. These historic estate lands, traditionally used for temple expenses, have seen rights recorded for tenants in 120 villages but not in the remaining 36, leading to ongoing conflicts over property rights.

ओडिशा हाई कोर्ट ने राज्य सरकार से भगवान जगन्नाथ की एकखरजट महल भूमि के रिकॉर्ड ऑफ राइट्स (RoR) प्रविष्टियों से जुड़े विवादों को सुलझाने की स्थिति रिपोर्ट मांगी है। यह निर्देश कोर्ट ने तब दिया जब वह खुर्दा जिले के 36 गांवों में RoR प्रविष्टि विवादों के संबंध में एक स्थानीय समिति द्वारा दायर जनहित याचिका पर सुनवाई कर रहा था। मंदिर के खर्चों के लिए पारंपरिक रूप से उपयोग की जाने वाली इन ऐतिहासिक संपदाओं में, 120 गांवों में किरायेदारों के अधिकार दर्ज किए गए हैं, लेकिन शेष 36 गांवों में नहीं, जिससे संपत्ति के अधिकारों को लेकर लगातार संघर्ष हो रहा है।
