North and South Korea Trade Accusations Over Landmine Blast Injuring Three Soldiers
DW World · world
South Korea has accused North Korea of planting landmines on the South's side of the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), a breach of the armistice agreement. The accusation follows a mine blast on September 21 that injured three South Korean soldiers during a patrol. An investigation by the South Korean military and the UN Command concluded the mine was of North Korean origin. Pyongyang and Seoul are now trading hostile accusations across the border, with South Korea demanding an apology and a halt to further mine-laying.
